I think if you get 77 of them, it counts as a special achievement. Or maybe it's 777 of them that gives you a bonus reel or something.

It's not AD&D 2e. I mean I've played AD&D 2e for years and still have my original copies of 2 of those books.

It's the sort of person who would not merely be playing 2e in 2013, but also have shelled out 10x the cost of used original printing books for the recent reprints -- and then been toting those around when anywhere near the sort of circumstances which have even an outside potential to end in the sort of disaster which could leave them stranded on a desert island.

That sort of person is:
  • impervious to arguments for change -- evidenced by being 2.75 editions back)
  • either unwilling to consider options or willing to severely impede their own survival chances to make a point -- evidenced by massive overspending.
  • a fanatic -- evidenced by them having the books in their carryon when the plane went down (or otherwise at hand) - They don't merely own these books: they were intending to run such a game in transit. And that means that either they are outright delusional or they brought friends from 1992 along.
So that's not someone who can be reasoned with, they may not feel pain, and they potentially have similarly psychopathic cultists along with them. But don't take my word for it, go talk to a couple of current day 2e fans, and let them tell you how great their game is.

Also, that person might be Shadzar. We don't actually know what he looks like.

Nothing posted thus far would be a total dealbreaker.

E: What would work:

A Krav Maga Manual.
A Photo Album full of pictures of human skulls.
A Texas Road Atlas.

It wasn't full of skulls in particular, but I did once own a rather bitchin' photo album of various animal bones. I am a lesser human being for no longer possessing it.
Is this wretched demi-bee
Half asleep upon my knee
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's Eric, the half a bee

The 120 Days of Sodom, Dianetics, and any of the Gor or Wraethru books.
